Högg stairlifts: models and prices at a glance

The Högg Produktionstechnik AG, founded in 1905 in Switzerland, is one of the leading manufacturers of stairlifts and lift systems. In the following article, we go into more detail about the company’s operation and show what products the manufacturer offers..

The headquarters of the company Högg is located in Wattwil, in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. Since the beginning of the 1980s, the company also has a large branch in Bochum, North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition to the sale of high-quality platform and stair lifts, Högg also specializes in the sale of used lift systems. These are generally overhauled and extensively tested before resale.

Quality and service at Högg

As a manufacturer of stairlifts, Högg places the highest value on the quality of its products and the associated customer service. In the Bochum branch alone, around 20 employees take care of customer concerns. In the event of a stairlift malfunction, technicians from the company are on site within a very short time to carry out the necessary repairs. The replacement of a defective lift is also carried out just as quickly, as is the possible disposal of an old device. In addition to high-quality workmanship, Högg stairlifts are characterized by high safety standards. Before a new model can be sold to the customer, the stairlift is first thoroughly tested. Only when the product functions perfectly and is both TÜV-tested and CE-certified is it released for sale.

Used Högg stairlifts

Högg also offers its customers used lift systems compared to other manufacturers. This offer, which has already existed for several years, involves reconditioned stair and platform lifts. The principle of the second-hand exchange is very simple. If you want to buy a new Högg stairlift and have no further use for your old Högg model, you can make it available to other people via the second-hand exchange. Högg takes over the professional dismantling of the lift. Before the used stairlift can be resold, it is thoroughly checked by Högg employees and general overhaul. In addition to wear parts, parts that no longer meet the company’s quality standards due to wear and tear are also replaced. The used lift system is then sold by Högg with the same warranty as a new stairlift. Since most stairlifts are custom-made products, individually adapted to the needs of each customer and their living situation, the purchase of a used lift is not recommended in every case. For this reason, a comprehensive consultation and on-site inspection is essential.

Högg stairlift models

The Swiss company Högg offers a wide range of different stairlift models and thus covers almost all staircase shapes. Currently, the manufacturer has the following types of models on offer:

– Stairlifts for straight stairs
– Stairlifts for curved stairs
– Stairlifts for outdoor use
– Platform lifts for straight stairs
– Platform lifts for curved stairs
– Platform lifts for outdoor use
– Vertical lifts
– Homelifts

Seat lifts from Högg are the most frequently sold. They are suitable for transporting a person over one or more floors. A seat lift can be mounted either on the side of the wall or, more often, directly on the steps of the stairs. Högg sit lifts can also be used in very narrow staircases. Platform lifts, on the other hand, are designed for transporting a wheelchair including the driver and offer a higher load capacity. Högg wheelchair lifts, like most seat lifts, are designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Platform lifts, however, require more space in the stairwell due to their size.

For narrow or winding staircases Högg also offers the possibility to transport the lift via a patented ceiling rail system. For this purpose, the wheelchair is hooked into a transport unit and transported with it over the ceiling. Ceiling lifts are much more space-saving and allow transportation in very steep staircases. Högg Homelifts are passenger elevators designed to transport several people. They are characterized by high load capacity and can serve up to six stops if required. Högg Homelifts can also be installed in existing elevator shafts.

Prices of Högg stairlifts

Since a stairlift is always an individual production, which is adapted to the specific needs of the customer, as well as to the respective local conditions, its price can not be calculated as a lump sum. The basic models of the company Högg currently cost between 2,500 to 5,000 €. For special requests in terms of equipment and for complex, curved, long or winding stairs, one must expect additional costs. Platform lifts, like lift and home lifts, are correspondingly more expensive due to their size and equipment. The costs here are between 7,000 and 15,000 €.

All optional extras, such as electrically adjustable arm and footrests, special swivel seats or additional safety sensors, increase the costs again if they are not part of the basic equipment of the desired model. In order to obtain a binding price, it is essential that a Högg employee looks at the conditions on site and records the customer’s individual requirements and special wishes. This is the only way to provide a reliable estimate with a binding price.

Högg stairlift models at a glance

The stairlift manufacturer Högg has at the current time eleven different models in the offer. These differ in terms of intended use as well as load capacity and can be divided into four subcategories: Seat lifts, platform lifts, lifting platforms and home lifts. In the following list, we go into a little more detail about the individual models and their special features.

Stairlifts for straight stairways

Jade stairlift is the standard model of the manufacturer Högg. This seat lift is suitable for straight staircases, indoors and outdoors, and thanks to its small size it can be used even in very narrow staircases. The Jade rail system can be mounted directly on the steps or on the wall if needed, and offers a timeless design. The total permissible weight is 120 kilograms. The armrests and footrests can only be folded manually. The Högg SL-50 is designed for a load capacity of 120 kilograms and offers the possibility to attach the rail system to the ceiling. This model is ideal for use in apartment buildings and requires very little space. The Superglide model is also optimized for straight stairs and can be used either as a sit lift or a stand lift.

Stairlifts for curved staircases

The Mono stairlift is designed for use on very curved staircases. The swivel seat can be operated electrically if desired. The same applies to the footrests and armrests. The approved payload of the Högg Mono is 125 kilograms. The Duo seat lift is particularly suitable when the stairway is not only curved but also very narrow. For this purpose, the manufacturer uses two narrow steel rails on which the stairlift is mounted. The additional weight of the Duo model is up to 130 kg. In addition, the Duo can be used indoors as well as outdoors. For particularly steep stairs, the Flow 1 seat lift is recommended. This stair lift allows a slope of up to 70 degrees thanks to the special rail design. In addition, the Flow 1 model is equipped with electrically adjustable armrests as well as a retractable footrest and offers a load capacity of around 125 kilograms.

Platformlifts

Högg offers the GTL platform lift in three different variants. The GTL-15 for curved stairs offers a very space-saving design and a platform size of 1000 x 800 millimeters, in addition to a load capacity of up to 250 kilograms. The GTL-20 model, on the other hand, is used for straight stairs and has a minimum construction depth in the parking position. The platform lift is extremely space-saving and its maximum payload is 300 kilograms. The GTL-30 can be used flexibly and is suitable for curved stairs as well as for horizontal travel with changes in inclination. The permissible total weight is also 300 kg and the drive is integrated in the platform unit to save space. For particularly complicated staircases, the RL-50 model is recommended, as the rail system can be attached to the ceiling. Here, the wheelchair is hooked into a special transport unit, which limits the load capacity to 150 kilograms.

Homelifts and lifting platforms

In addition to stairlifts, Högg also offers private passenger elevators sold under the name “Homelift”. The Homelift GBH 20 can be mounted indoors or outdoors and offers a load capacity of about 300 kg. The lift can overcome a height difference of up to ten meters and is driven by a gear system. The GBH 50 is slightly larger than the GBH 20 and therefore offers an additional weight of 500 kilograms. However, this model is only suitable for a height of two meters and is usually only used outdoors due to its size. The E50 model, which is designed for a payload of 300 kg, can be equipped with either a mechanical or a hydraulic drive. The Herkules MB lift is made entirely of weatherproof stainless steel and aluminum and is mainly used outdoors. The Herkules MB model can also be continuously adjusted to a lifting height of 90 to 130 centimeters. The load capacity is 260 kilograms.
